H2 Public Relations is opening applications for a full-time Jr Publicist, Social Media + Marketing Assistant in the Chicago office. In this position you will get hands-on experience in media relations, client interactions, social media management, marketing ideation and activations, event coordination, planning, research, team culture, and more.

This is a full-time position with a hybrid structure (Mon/Th/Fri remote, Tues & Wed in office) and will be instrumental in working on local and national focused PR campaigns for several of the most respected hospitality and lifestyle clients in the Midwest region including: Daisies, Big Star, Pendry Chicago hotel, avec, Journeyman Distillery, The Violet Hour, The Wicker Park Bucktown Chamber of Commerce, The Graceful Ordinary and more…. 

ABOUT H2 Public Relations: H2 Public Relations is a small and independent, woman-owned, and operated boutique firm established in San Diego in 2007. The second office of H2PR was launched in Chicago in 2011, and most recently, H2 opened a Denver branch in September of 2021. QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Candidate should possess a Communications-related degree focusing on Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing or an associated field

  • Minimum of 1 year of prior PR agency experience or 1-2 communications-focused internships required (bonus points for lifestyle or hospitality).

  • Experience in executing engaging social media campaigns, which will include but is not limited to producing outside-the-box content ideas, drafting copy, attending shoots, supporting content creation, tracking analytics, competitor research, audience management, and more.

  • Experience with Canva and/or other promotional design platforms

  • Interest and understanding of marketing and event coordination—creating strategy, promotion and on-site run-of-show for promotional events.

  • Demonstrated understanding of creating newsletters on platforms such as Mailchimp and Constant Contact

  • Candidate should be a motivated, energetic and proactive self-starter who has mastered AP style writing and has a dedicated interest and understanding of pitching media, as well as out-of-the-box thinking in a fast paced, deadline-driven environment.

  • Must possess the ability to juggle many tasks at one time and change gears quickly.

  • Must be extremely detail-oriented and be able to work in a flexible work environment (hours are not always restricted to 9-5pm).

  • Ideal candidate will be familiar with and knowledgeable of food, beverage, hospitality and lifestyle trends, particularly in the Chicago area.

  • Applicant will need to produce writing samples, examples of press releases, pitching and management of social media platforms

  • Candidate should be willing to occasionally attend evening events and should like to be out and about checking out new places regularly.

  • Must be able to thrive in a boutique style environment.

  • Must be willing to eat ridiculously good food.

CHICAGO | (PAID) Part-time MARKETING, PR & SOCIAL internship

NOW HIRING FOR SPRING 2024

H2 Public Relations is looking for a dynamic Marketing, Social Media and PR intern to join our small boutique agency in Chicago on a part-time basis beginning early April 2024. This PAID internship will span a period of 10-12 weeks at 15-20 hours per week. This position is hybrid, and will require some weekly training with our team at our Logan Square office.

We’re looking for someone who has completed prior internships or course work in the field and is looking to get a more hands on feel for a PR position. If you have a passion for writing, hospitality, media, producing great content, and you have a knack for creating clean and crisp design assets via Canva, this internship is a great opportunity for a behind-the-scenes look into the world of hospitality PR with some of the most exciting clients in the business.

The Marketing, Social Media + PR internship job responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Assisting on high-profile hospitality, hotel and restaurant accounts in Chicago including Daisies, The Violet Hour, Chicago Electric Boat Company, The Graceful Ordinary, The Whistler, Venteux, Pendry Chicago, Big Star, and more.

  • Supporting all junior, mid-level and senior level publicists with tasks assigned and daily duties.

  • Social Media curriculum will include, but is not limited to: producing outside-the-box content ideas for engaging campaigns, drafting copy, tracking analytics, competitor research, audience management, and more. 

  • Creating catchy and compelling content for newsletters with event descriptions + Canva designs.

  • PR curriculum will include, but is not limited to: drafting materials such as pitches, press releases, biographies, invite copy, blog copy and more. Prior writing experience and knowledge of AP format is a must.

  • Intern will be invited to attend client meetings and may assist account leads with meeting agendas and PR reports.

  • Intern will assist with press clips, media grids, tracking circulation numbers and placement values.

  • Reviewing editorial calendars to learn how to identify personalized angles for each of the clients.

  • Working in tandem with existing H2 team to further reach the goals of the clients for unique activations, event planning, partnerships and cross collaborations plus producing full promotional strategies to support these initiatives.

  • Attending & facilitating photo shoots, TV segments, podcasts, and client events alongside H2.

A pursued degree and a past internship in Public Relations, Journalism/Communications, or a related field is preferred. H2 Public Relations has an immediate opening for a dynamic social media marketing + PR intern in San Diego. This PAID, part-time internship will span a period of 10 to 12 weeks at 15 to 20 hours per week. This position is hybrid, and will require some weekly training with our team at our Liberty Station office.

We’re looking for someone who has completed prior internships or course work in an applicable field and is looking to get a more hands on feel for a position in PR/digital marketing. If you have a passion for hospitality and a knack for producing eye-capturing content, this internship is a great opportunity for a behind-the-scenes look into the world of hospitality PR with some of the most exciting brands in the business.

The Social Media + PR internship job responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Assisting on high-profile client accounts in San Diego/Orange County including CUCINA urbana, Watershed by Deckman’s, Lola 55, Cesarina, Elvira, Lala, Moniker General, The Kitchen at MCASD, Seaport Village, Skal Pizza, and much more.

  • Supporting all junior, mid-level and senior level publicists with tasks assigned and daily projects.

  • Social Media curriculum will include, but is not limited to: producing outside-the-box content ideas for engaging campaigns, drafting copy, attending shoots, supporting content creation, tracking analytics, competitor research, audience management, and more. 

  • Creating catchy and compelling content for newsletters with event descriptions + Canva designs.
